Here are a few more pages from the past...believe it or not I'm noticing that I only have about four weeks of bed rest left and better get going on the scrap booking if I'm going to be completely caught up before babies get here! But don't worry, after that y'all won't be getting nearly so many updates :)
Babies are about 4 lbs each, coming up on 33 weeks. We are so grateful for all the prayers and help, the doctor continues to be shocked that we are holding so long and I know it's not the medicine and bed rest alone...thank you all for your faith!
One of our favorite day trips was to these ruins. They were so extensive you could spend hours exploring and learning the fascinating history of the monks that used to live there. It was mostly a serene location, except when Victoria dropped her shoe into what used to be the surrounding moat! A Belgian tried to help us retrieve it, but dropped his ladder down in the process. In the end, he jumped in (quiet a long fall!), dug the shoe out of the thick undergrowth and was at least able to use the ladder to climb out!
We were able to visit Spain twice. First, we visited Madrid when Daniel was there for work. We loved the alcazar in Sigovia (above) just outside of Madrid, though Daniel got a little jealous of a particular knight. We took a high speed train to get there, 150 miles an hour! It was much slower driving to Barcelona from Brussels, where we learned that if you can't find a hotel in one city at 11 at night, it could be 4 HOURS before you find another option! Other than that stressful stretch, we did enjoy some sightseeing along the way, including one of the caves of Lascaux that featured cave men drawings. The bike tour of Barcelona featured a gorgeous waterfall designed by Gaudi and some ruins under the city. We also enjoyed a quick show of Flamencol dancing, though the girls enjoyed the unique foods much more!
The rocky terrain and crystal clear water alone made this beach get away spectacular, but the pristine white buildings with blue shutters and flowers growing up the sides made it picture perfect. Daniel especially liked the sand...more like millions of little pebbles. I missed making sand castles, but he loved how much easier the clean up was after the girls played in the "sand." The only down side was the rather frequent rain and much colder weather than expected. I was so disappointed I couldn't get in the water, jut too cold for me, so Daniel rented me a wet suit. Didn't seem to bother the natives, some of whom (especially the older ones) think swim suits are optional. There were lots of fishes in the water...I was so surprised I started screaming through my snorkel. I think the people nearby thought I was screaming shark in another language because the bay cleared out pretty quick after that!
